The sacrament of Confirmation is one of the three sacraments of Christian initiation. The very word, Confirmation which means to affirm or consolidate, tells us a lot. In this sacrament the work of Baptism is strengthened and completed. Through this sacrament, the baptized person is strengthened with the gift of the Holy Spirit. A deeper rootedness in divine filiation is achieved, one is more intimately united with the Church, strengthening oneself to be a witness of Jesus Christ, in word and deed. It is through him that he is able to defend his faith and pass it on. From Confirmation we become mature Christians and we will be able to lead a more perfect, more active Christian life. It is the sacrament of Christian maturity and that makes us capable of being witnesses of Christ.
